Emotional Awareness
&
Self Compassion

Many of us have never been taught how to make space for our emotions or even to acknowledge their existence. We can often get caught in emotional avoidance cycles and high levels of self criticism. This can make us feel trapped by our emotions and lead to us spending all our emotional energy fighting with ourself. Over time these patterns can contribute to symptoms of anxiety or depression, relational impacts and feelings of dissatisfaction with our life.

Developing emotional awareness and self compassion can support you in understanding and relating to your emotions with kindness. Therapy can focus on exploring self criticism, emotional wounds, disconnection from values, and/or understanding and unpacking unhelpful thinking patterns.

We will aim to discover ways to move through life’s tough moments with more compassion and purpose.

Emotional Awareness

Develop the ability to notice, name, and make space for your emotions, so they don’t dictate your actions. This process helps you reconnect with what truly matters to you, allowing you to move forward with intention, even in the face of anxiety, uncertainty, or low mood. This clarity can reduce feelings of being stuck and bring a renewed sense of purpose.

Self Compassion

Self-criticism and shame often deepen and contribute to experiences of anxiety and depression symptoms. We can work to cultivate a kinder, more supportive inner voice, aiming to create a foundation of emotional safety and self-acceptance. This shift can soften the intensity of difficult emotions, build resilience, and help you navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and confidence.

Emotional Intelligence

Building on a foundation of emotional awareness, developing further emotional and social intelligence skills can strengthen your ability to understand and manage your own emotions, as well as respond to others with empathy and clarity. This work enhances communication, reduces conflict, and fosters deeper connections. Developing these skills often brings a sense of empowerment and emotional balance.

Healing Unhelpful Emotional Patterns

Together, we can explore how past experiences, especially in early relationships, shape your emotional patterns today. By understanding and healing these unhelpful patterns, you may be able to release old burdens, set healthier boundaries, and create a more secure, grounded sense of self. This process can often alleviate the emotional weight of anxiety and depression, opening the door to greater freedom and joy.
