Fees
Sessions can be conducted either in-person or online, lasting between 50 to 55 minutes. A referral is not required to consult a psychologist; however, without one, you won't be eligible for the Medicare rebate (refer to the details below). You can still opt for private payment or use private health insurance without needing a referral.
Rebates
Rebates are available utilising Medicare or in some cases Private Health Insurance.
Medicare
You are able to access a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) through Medicare. This MHTP can be created by your GP and under this plan you are eligible for up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions per calendar year.
Initially you will be referred for up to 6 sessions and then if you require further support you can speak to your GP about a further 4 sessions.
The MHTP needs to be created prior to the initial session in order to claim the rebate.
This is not a bulk billing practice and as such there will be a gap between the medicare rebate and the total fee.

Private Health Insurance
Certain private health insurers may provide coverage for psychological support.
We suggest discussing your specific coverage and eligibility details with your provider for more information.
Please be aware that you cannot claim both Medicare and private health insurance simultaneously.
