Tall Tree Perspective

Teen & Young Adult Counselling

Being a teen or young adult today is intense. Whether it be school pressure, work transitions, shifting friendships, family changes & the big question of who you are.

Therapy offers a private, judgement free space to try to make sense of it all.

Who is this for?

This service is for teens & young adults (12-25 years old) who are:

  • Feeling overwhelmed by emotions they can't quite name or manage

  • Struggling with anxiety, low mood or motivation challenges

  • Navigating family conflict, divorce, or changing family dynamics

  • Dealing with bullying, social pressure or loneliness

  • Processing difficult or traumatic past experiences

  • Questioning their identity, values, or direction in life

Parents if you notice your teen withdrawing, struggling or just not themselves, reaching out for support early can make a meaningful difference.

What can we help with?

Emotional Literacy

Emotional literacy is the ability to recognise, understand, & express your emotions in healthy ways. It is the foundation for strong relationships, self awareness, & resiliency. Together, we’ll aim to build the skills you need to navigate life’s ups and downs, not by suppressing feelings but by learning to work with them.

Processing Trauma

Past experiences, whether big or small, can shape how you see yourself & the world.

If you’ve experienced trauma, we’ll work at your pace to process these experiences, reduce their impact, & help you move forward with strength and self-compassion. You are in control of what we explore & when.

Emerging Adulthood

Stepping into adulthood comes with big questions: Who am I? What do I want? How do I handle new responsibilities?

We can explore your identity, values, & goals, helping you navigate this exciting (& sometimes confusing) stage with confidence, clarity & compassion.

Study related difficulties

School & study bring academic pressure, social challenges, & transitions which can often feel overwhelming.

Whether you’re struggling with exam anxiety, motivation, perfectionism or peer dynamics, we’ll work together to find strategies to help you thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Family upheaval

Family changes e.g. separation, divorce, blending households, conflict at home or feeling like you don't belong in your family can shake your sense of stability.

Therapy can help you process what's happening at home, express what you need, & develop ways to cope with the changes that aren't in your control.

Attachment Patterns

The way you connect with others is often shaped by early relationships. If you find yourself worrying about being abandoned, pushing people away or feeling like you don't matter, we can explore these patterns together. Understanding your attachment patterns can help you build healthier, more secure relationships

How therapy works for young people

The first session is about getting to know each other. There will be no pressure to share everything at once. We'll talk about what's been going on, what you'd like to change & what feels safe to explore. Parents are welcome to be part of the initial conversation if that feels right but sessions are confidential and what you share stays between us (with a few important exceptions we will explain clearly before we start)
